Sesame seeds (Also known as Sesamum Indicum) is a seasonal crop that mostly grows in the raining seasons and can be cultivated twice a year in areas or regions in Nigeria that have long duration of rain. Sesame seed is an important crop to Nigerian agriculture because it is extensively cultivated in the country. They are used in the creation of traditional medicines to prevent and cure sickness. Sesame seeds have the highest oil contents of any seed. The oil could be extracted from sesame seeds by crushing the seed. The oil is used locally for cooking as well as for medicinal purposes such as the treatment of ulcers and burns. The stem and the oil extract are equally used in making local soap. Nigeria is amongst the top 10 exporters of sesame seeds in the world. In all states where sesame seeds are cultivated in Nigeria, individuals are involved in the local processing of commercial products through Sesame seeds. The demand for sesame seeds has grown strongly in all the major consuming countries over the last decade. Sesame seeds are small, almost oblate in shape featuring pleasant nutty flavour and high oil content. The types of Sesame seeds are; White sesame seeds: This is the food-grade used in the bakery industry. The Brown and black sesame seeds: This is primarily the oil-grade of the seeds

Ginger (Also known as Zingiber Officinale) is mainly used as a spice for food and medicinal purposes. It is used to prevent and cure health problems. Ginger is indigenous to China and is mostly grown in counties such as; South Eastern Asia, Queensland, India, Japan and Nigeria for commercial purposes. In Nigeria, Ginger is mostly produced in the North. Ginger rhizomes (underground stems) are thick and hard, pale yellow in colour and covered with distichous scales. It is mostly cultivated in the raining season. It needs a lot of moisture and fertilizer (manure) while growing. The crop is often grown on ridges. Ginger is often harvested between 8-9 months after which it was planted. Ginger for exports are usually packed in Export Polyethylene bags for shipment in 20ft container or in 40ft containers. Ginger is used for a lot of purposes. Below are some of the most common uses of Ginger. They include; To make spice that adds flavour, pungency and aroma to prepared food. It spices curry powder, Ginger soda/beer and Ginger wine. It is widely used in the production of Ginger ale, Gingerbread, Biscuits, Cakes and Puddings. To make Ginger tea. Ingredients such as Honey, Sliced Orange and Lemon fruit can be added to the tea to make it more nutritious and tasty. Garlic is one of the oldest medicinal plants and is widely recognised for its health benefit properties. It is used to prevent and cure several health challenges

Bitter kola (Also known as Garcinia Kola) is a tree that grows in large quantity at rain forests in West Africa. Bitter Kola has been identified as a potent antibiotic which could be effective in the treatment of many diseases. It is an agricultural product that has a wide range of applications in medical industry. The fruit, seeds, nuts and bark of the plant have been used for centuries in producing medicines that are used to treat ailments. It is an effective antibiotic which could be used in the treatment of many ailments and infections such as cough, sneezing, cold, diarrhoeas, tuberculosis, bacterial infection and fever.

Cashew nuts (Also known as Anacardium Occidentale) are gotten from a Cashew tree. The Cashews tree can grow as high as 14 metres (46ft). The Cashew fruit hangs like a bell on the Cashew tree. The Cashew nuts are shaped like kidney or beans and adhere at the bottom of the Cashew fruits. The cashew fruit has herbal health benefits such as; healing one from diarrhoea and fever, killing bacteria and germs, reducing the blood sugar level and stabilizing the body temperature. The Cashew nuts also contains a lot of nutritional contents. It contains protein and essential minerals such as; iron, fat, magnesium, zinc, copper, phosphorus and has no cholesterol.

Palm kernel is the edible seed of the palm tree. The palm kernel is an oil plant that is used in the production of Palm oil, Palm kernel oil and Palm kernel cake. Just as the name implies, Palm kernel oil is the oil extracted from the kernel of palm fruit while Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil which is used as a raw material in both food and non-food industries. Palm Kernel oil and Palm oil are both gotten from the palm fruit but have differences. Palm oil is gotten from the fleshy portion of the palm fruit (The Mesocarp) while Palm kernel oil is gotten from the seed (kernel) of the fruit. After extracting the palm oil from the Mesocarp of the palm fruit, we then have a black hard kernel. Palm kernel oil is extracted from this kernel and has a black colour with a nice taste. Palm oil is reddish in colour due to its high amount of Beta-carotene. It is used for Cooking, Making soaps, Detergents, Shampoos and in the manufacture of food items such as; Margarine, Crackers, Baking ingredients, breakfast cereals, Instant noodles, etc. Palm kernel oil, Coconut oil and Palm oil are all categorized as vegetable oil. Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil that contains high saturated fats and doesn�t contain cholesterol. This makes it easy to flow on human blood vessels. In Africa and some other countries, it is mostly used as a cooking ingredient in the preparation of various food types. Palm kernel oil is similar to coconut oil (which is extracted from the coconut kernel) as they are highly saturated. It is more saturated than palm oil and thus is semi-solid at room temperature. It flows easier on the human arteries than palm oil because it is more saturated. Nigeria is one of the major exporters of Palm Kernel oil.
